Woodford Reserve Masters Collection Four Grain Batch #1 is the first release in the Masters Collection series, launched in 2005 by master distiller Chris Morris. It is a Kentucky straight bourbon with wheat added to the usual corn, rye and malted barley, and it was the first four-grain bourbon in more than a century.
It is triple-distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 46.2% ABV, with each bottle individually numbered. It was released in Kentucky in 2005 and nationally in 2006.
The nose combines corn sweetness, rye spice, wheat softness and malted barley, with caramel and vanilla from the oak. The palate layers rye spice with wheat softness, and the finish is medium to long with gentle spice and warm oak.
