Woodford Reserve Masters Collection Sweet Mash Redux 2015 (37.5cl, 45.2%)

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Woodford Reserve Masters Collection, released in 2015 in a 37.5cl bottle. It is bottled at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof) and distilled in triple copper pot stills. Sweet Mash Redux revisits the pre-Prohibition method of sweet mash fermentation. Each fermentation starts fresh with water, grain and yeast, without any backset from the previous batch, which is the step that defines sour mash bourbon. The nose offers fresh grain, caramel and vanilla. On the palate it is delicate and sweet, with light caramel, vanilla and fresh grain, and the finish is gentle and medium in length with soft oak.
