This is a 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from the World Whiskey Society, given a second maturation in Black Currant Brandy casks. It comes in a 75cl bottle, in the dragon bottle of the Members Reserve Collection.
The brandy casks add a dark, tart berry character, closer to cassis than to red wine, over a base of caramel, vanilla and peanut brittle.
The nose has black currant jam, ripe dark berries, vanilla, oak and baking spice. The palate brings chocolate-covered black cherries, tart currants and caramel, and the finish is long and warming with burnt sugar and roasted peanut.
