An Irish single malt whiskey made from malted barley and triple distilled, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered.
Red Head is matured in Oloroso sherry casks, and the name refers to its reddish colour. Within the Writers' Tears range it stands apart from the Copper Pot, which combines single malt and single pot still.
The nose has ripe red apple, tropical fruit and sweet malt with raisins, nuts and Oloroso spice. The palate is fruity and creamy, with dried fruit, dark honey, nutty oak, ginger and warm spice. The finish runs medium to long, with sherry fruit, spice and a drying note of nuts and oak.
