This is a triple distilled Irish single pot still whiskey from Writers' Tears, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without chill-filtration. The mash combines malted and unmalted barley, distilled in copper pot stills.
It matures first in former bourbon casks and then takes influence from Pedro Ximénez sherry and Marsala wine casks.
The nose offers candied apple and ripe pear with vanilla, honey, raisin and caramel. The palate is creamy and full, with velvety PX sweetness, stewed apple and dark fruit, held together by pot still spice, oak and a little pepper. The finish is lasting, fruity and spicy, with Marsala notes, dried fruit and dry oak.
