Yamaga New Born 2022 is a young whisky from Yamaga Distillery in Kumamoto, Japan, released on 1 December 2022 to mark the distillery's first anniversary. It was bottled at 58% ABV in a 375ml bottle, and 3,421 bottles were produced.
The whisky is a blend of seven selected casks, matured for around seven months in bourbon barrels. The distillery stands in northern Kumamoto Prefecture and makes use of local groundwater and the hot, humid climate of the basin.
The distillery's notes describe green apple, osmanthus, roasted nuts and malt on the nose, with butterscotch, apple pie and blackcurrant. The palate is silky, with sponge cake, cashews, lemon cake, camphor and mitarashi.
