This is Yamazaki 18 Year Old, a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, the oldest whisky distillery in Japan. It was first launched in 1992 and is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Around 80% of the whisky is matured in sherry butts, with the remainder aged in American oak and Mizunara oak casks. The nose brings truffles, thick bitter marmalade, resin, potpourri and heavy Oloroso sherry. On the palate it is rich and bittersweet, with heather roots, cigar leaves, honey, toffee apples, plum wine and black pepper, perhaps with a touch of rancio. The finish is long, fruity and led by marmalade.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
