Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a single malt Japanese whisky from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, bottled at 43% ABV. Yamazaki was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii in Osaka Prefecture and is Japan's first commercial malt whisky distillery.
The whisky is a vatting of malts matured in American oak, sherry oak, Mizunara (Japanese oak) and Bordeaux wine casks.
The nose is fresh and fruity, with strawberry, cherry, light tropical notes and the gentle spice of Mizunara. On the palate come raspberry, white peach, a little coconut, honeyed malt and gentle oak. The finish is smooth, with sweet vanilla and a hint of cinnamon.
