Yamazaki – Mizunara Japanese Oak Cask 2013 Single Malt (70cl, 43%)

This is the 2013 release of Yamazaki Mizunara, a single malt Japanese whisky without an age statement, matured in casks made from Mizunara oak. It was bottled in 2013, the year Yamazaki distillery marked 90 years since it opened in 1923, and forms part of the distillery's Cask Collection. The Mizunara casks are said to give hints of sandalwood and fragrant aloeswood. The nose brings forest-like herbs, mint, cream, orange and caramel. On the palate come cherries and fruit tarts, bitter spicy oak and mild tobacco, followed by a long citrus finish with bitter black tea.
