Yamazaki – Puncheon 2020 Edition (70cl, 48%)

Yamazaki Puncheon is a Japanese single malt from the Yamazaki distillery, part of its 2020 limited edition series released in November 2020. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured in puncheon casks of American oak, coopered by Suntory, each holding 480 litres. Their larger size means less contact with the wood, so maturation is slower. The colour is pale gold. The nose has green apple, vanilla and acacia honey. The palate is mellow and mild with butterscotch, and the finish is oaky with a subtle sweetness.
