Smoky Batch First Release is a Japanese single malt from the Yamazaki distillery, made as a limited edition for Japanese travel retail. It follows the Yamazaki Tsukuriwake Peated Malt of 2022 and is marked by a gentle, Japanese-style smokiness. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose offers pineapple and honey with the smoke of glowing embers. The palate is sweet and fruity, with gentle smoke spreading slowly, and the finish stays slightly woody and peaty for a long time.
