This is a Yamazaki blended malt from the 1970s, labelled Suntory Excellence, in a 76cl bottle at 43%. The malt was distilled and vatted at Yamazaki and matured in sherry-cured oak barrels, and the label carries an unusual Scottish clan-style heraldic design. Yamazaki was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii as Japan's first malt whisky distillery. Suntory moved its grain whisky production to Chita during its expansion in the 1970s, so bottles from this period would have been made with malt distilled at Yamazaki.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
