This is a 2024 limited edition from the Yamazaki Tsukuriwake Collection, a Japanese single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was made with Islay peated barley, which adds a layer of smoke to the distillery's usual sweetness. The Yamazaki distillery was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii as Japan's first malt whisky distillery. The nose has a gentle veil of smoke and a delicate biscuit note. The palate is silky and sweet like brown sugar, opening into bright bitter orange. The finish is warm and softly smoky, with caramel-like sweetness that fades to bitter orange.
