Archangel No. 3 is the third release in Signatory Vintage's Archangel series of four. This Aberfeldy was distilled in 2013 and matured for ten years in two first fill Oloroso sherry butts. It was bottled in 2023 at a cask strength of 58.7%, limited to 1,343 bottles, and is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The label illustration is by Tom Thiel.
The nose opens with dark chocolate, then hazelnut, honey, raisin and malt, with leather, oak and gentle spice behind. On the palate are berries, dark cherry, creamy honey, malt and nuts, with a little ginger and dark sugar syrup. The long, warm finish begins with dark chocolate, then ginger and fruit, with raisin and roasted nuts lingering in sherried sweetness.
