Aberfeldy – 22 Year Old 2001 White Port Finish (Exceptional Cask Series) (51.7%)

This Aberfeldy 22 Year Old is part of the distillery's Exceptional Cask Series, a double cask release chosen by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod from maturing stock. The spirit was filled in November 2001 and spent most of its life in refill hogsheads and refill barrels, before moving to White Port casks in July 2022. The port finish is described as adding a bright stone fruit lift and delicate floral freshness to the honeyed character of the distillery, which stands in Perthshire. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.7% ABV without chill-filtration, and 276 bottles were filled. The tasting notes describe ripe peaches, nectarines and apricots, with subtle vanilla, orange peel zest and delicate warming spices.
