Akashi White Oak Red is a blended Japanese whisky in a 500ml bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It is matured in American white oak casks that previously held shochu, for two years. The whisky also spends time in ex-bourbon casks and then a year in ex-sherry casks to finish. On the nose it is vanilla and honey with hints of apricot and dried fruit. The palate is clean and smooth, with chestnuts, spicy oak and salted caramel. The finish is long, with a touch of saltiness.
