Amahagan – Edition Yamazakura Wood Finish Japanese Blended Malt Whisky (70cl, 47%)

This is a Japanese blended malt from Amahagan, bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is based on Amahagan's Edition No.1, a blend of malt from Nagahama Distillery built on overseas malt whisky. The blend was then matured further in Yamazakura, a cherry wood native to Japan. It keeps the malty sweetness of the Nagahama malt and adds an aroma reminiscent of incense wood. On the nose and palate there are notes of mountain cherry blossom, sakura mochi and plum, with gentle orange peel and a sweetness that spreads in the mouth. The aftertaste is gentle, with a light, tea-leaf astringency.
