A 10-year-old peated single malt Indian whisky from Amrut, finished in rum casks and bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. Amrut was founded in 1948, a few months after India's independence, and is based in Bangalore.
The nose combines toasted wood and dark peat smoke with sweet spices, marmalade, Morello cherry, cocoa and vanilla. The palate is round, with butterscotch, candied citrus, cocoa and macerated fruits, plus a floral note and camphor freshness.
The finish turns to ashy smoke, with lingering sweetness, pastry, spices and a hint of vanilla.
