Amrut – 2014 Special Limited Edition Ex-Bourbon Lightly Peated Cask #1405 (70cl, 60%)

This is a limited edition Indian single malt from Amrut, lightly peated and matured in an ex-bourbon cask, number 1405. It is bottled at 60% in a 70cl bottle and is not chill-filtered. The barley is grown almost entirely on the plains at the foot of the Himalayas. The colour is orangey copper. The nose shows subtle smoke and delicate peat over floral, fruity, heather-honey, chocolate and caramel notes. On the palate, liquorice and salty peat come with malted barley, roasted apple, curry and cocoa bean. The finish is long and well balanced, with clove, peat, smoked meat, and red and black fruits.
