Amrut – 2015/2023 8 Year Old Peated Port Pipe #4677 (70cl, 60%)

This single malt from Amrut was made from peated barley malted in Scotland and distilled in India in June 2015. It matured for eight years in a port pipe, a cask that had previously held port, and was bottled in July 2023 at a cask strength of 60%. It comes from a single cask, number 4677, and yielded 486 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Grilled meat, leather and ash on the nose sit beside apricot and mango, with toast, spiced bread and dark chocolate emerging with air. The palate shows sweetness, cut hay, malt, smoke, smoked bacon and ripe fruit, then pepper and mineral peat. The long finish brings curry spice and peat smoke, followed by port fruit and a floral touch of ylang-ylang.
