Amrut 2018/2023 - 5 Years Old - Master Distiller's Reserve - Stout Cask #4863 (70cl, 50%)

This five-year-old Indian single malt from Amrut is made from six-row Indian barley. It was distilled in September 2018 and bottled in September 2023 at 50%, finished in a cask that previously held stout, and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. It is a single-cask release of 282 bottles in the Master Distiller's Reserve, from cask 4863, chosen by Ashok Chokalingam. Mango and orange sit behind darker notes on the nose, alongside chocolate, ginger biscuit, black tea and a faint earthy smoke. The palate brings coffee beans, dark chocolate and herbal notes, with pepper, clove and ginger. The medium finish dries, with wood spice and a smoky echo.
