Amrut – 6 Years Old Ex-Rye Barrel Copper & Oak Series III (70cl, 62.4%)

A six-year-old Indian single malt from Amrut, distilled in Bangalore and bottled in Scotland at a cask strength of 62.4%. It is one of 78 bottles from a single cask, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured in an ex-rye barrel, a cask that previously held 100% rye whisky. It belongs to Series III of Copper & Oak, which shows a single cask before any finishing. The artwork, by Scottish artist Orla Stevens, shows the Atakur Inscription, a stone dating from around the year 950. The nose offers toasted almonds and freshly baked chocolate brownies. The palate brings old-fashioned chewy toffees, and the finish carries caramelised brown sugar.
