Amrut Fusion Single Malt Whisky

Amrut Fusion is a single malt whisky from Amrut Distilleries in India. The distillery takes its name from the Hindu myth in which gods and demons churned the ocean and a golden pot holding the Elixir of Life, the Amrut, rose out of it. The whisky carries peat and oak, and its sherry trifle character comes without any sherry butts being involved. The nose is heavy, thickly oaked and complex, with barley sugar wrapped in soft smoke. The palate starts controlled but turns massive, with full peat, custard, vanilla and a rich chocolate fudge centre. The finish is dry with peat and oak, helped along by molasses sweetness and rising spice.
