Amrut 'Little Greedy Angels' is an eight year old Indian single malt from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, in a 75cl bottle at 50% ABV. It comes from the Chairman's Reserve and is a limited release.
The malt is peated in-house at the distillery using Aberdeenshire peat, and it is matured in Oloroso sherry casks. The name refers to the angels' share, the spirit lost to evaporation in the Indian climate.
The nose is described as caramel, vanilla wafer, fresh-baked cookies, ripe banana and pear, with a little peppermint and earthy, lightly peaty smoke. On the palate come Lotus Biscoff, caramel, pepper, clove and caramelised apple, ending on darker fruits, toffee, sultana and chocolate wafers.
Tasting Notes
Rich caramel, vanilla wafer, fresh-baked cookies, ripe banana, pear, a hint of peppermint ice cream, earthy smoke that is only slightly peaty
