This is a 10 year old peated single malt from Amrut in India, finished in rum casks and bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Amrut's cellars sit at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level in a tropical climate, where mainly bourbon barrels are used.
The nose shows toasty wood and dark peat smoke, then sweet spices, marmalade, Morello cherry, cocoa and vanilla. The palate is round, with butterscotch and candied citrus from the rum, then dense cocoa and macerated fruits with a floral note and camphor freshness. The finish turns to ashy smoke, with sweetness, pastry, spices and a hint of vanilla.
