Amrut Indian Single Malt is made from Indian barley and matured in Bangalore, in ex-bourbon barrels and new American oak casks. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The tropical climate speeds up maturation, and it also causes heavy evaporation, which can reach 15% a year.
The nose combines liquorice and bourbon-like notes with burnt honey and toffee. The palate is rich and smooth, with barley and oak sweetness carrying liquorice and molasses. The long finish moves between sweet and dry oak and ends lightly silky, with a hint of cream toffee.
