Amrut – Intermediate Sherry (70cl, 57.1%)

Amrut Intermediate Sherry is an Indian single malt whisky bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit starts in a mix of ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks. It then moves into sherry casks for a period, before returning to bourbon casks to complete its maturation. The nose is of light sherry notes, with rosewater-like Turkish delight or raspberry macaroons rather than figs and dried fruits, along with blueberries, mandarin liqueur, ginger, flowers and vanilla cake. The palate is rich and fruity, sweet and candied, with oranges, grapes, cherries and plum jam, plus cinnamon, light pepper, anise, a little leather and a faint oaky touch.
