Amrut – Intermediate Sherry (70cl, 57.1%)

Amrut Intermediate Sherry is an Indian single malt, bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. The spirit starts in a mix of ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks, moves to sherry casks for a period, then returns to bourbon casks to complete its maturation. The nose is described as light sherry, closer to raspberry macaroons than figs and dried fruit, with blueberry, mandarin liqueur, ginger, flowers and vanilla cake. The palate is rich, fruity and sweet, with orange, grape, cherry, plum jam and rosewater, plus cinnamon, light pepper, anise, a little leather and a faint oaky touch.
