Amrut Master Distiller's Reserve is an Indian single malt, the first release in an annual series of single casks chosen by Amrut's master distiller. The whisky was aged first in ex-bourbon casks and then in an old Pedro Ximenez sherry butt, and it is Amrut's first peated expression to be aged in a sherry cask.
The cask was filled in January 2014 and the whisky bottled in October 2022 at 50% ABV, giving 500 bottles.
Amber in colour, it opens with dried fruit, figs and plums over caramel, chocolate and tobacco, with sweet melon in the background. The palate is syrupy, with honey, lemon, tobacco and a touch of spice. The finish is sweet and dry, with peaty phenols.
