Amrut – Portonova (70cl, 62.1%)

Amrut Portonova is an Indian single malt from the Amrut distillery in Bangalore, in a 70cl bottle at 62.1% ABV. It brings together whisky matured in new American oak, Bourbon casks and Port pipes. The name refers to Parangipettai, also known as Portonovo, a town on the coast of Tamil Nadu in an area under Portuguese rule from the 16th to the 18th century. In Bangalore, high above sea level, the spirit matures under tropical conditions around three to four times faster than in Scotland.
