Amrut – Portonova Indian Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 62.1%)

Amrut Portonova is an unpeated Indian single malt bottled at 62.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured first in new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then moved to once used port pipes imported from Portugal, and finally returned to ex-bourbon casks. The name refers to Parangipettai, also called Portonovo, a town on the east coast of Tamil Nadu that was under Portuguese control from the 16th to the 18th century. Both nose and palate are exotic and vibrant, with raisins, vanilla, cherry liqueur and spices, and the finish is notably smooth.
