Amrut – Portonova Indian Single Malt (75cl, 48%)

Amrut Portonova is an Indian single malt from Amrut's distillery in Bangalore, bottled at 48% in a 75cl bottle. It is made from Indian barley grown in the foothills of the Himalayas and distilled in small copper pot stills. Maturation happens in three stages: first in new American oak barrels, then in Port pipes brought from Portugal, and finally in ex-bourbon casks. The name refers to the port city of Portonovo on India's southeastern coast. The nose offers dark fruit, toffee, vanilla and brown sugar, with banana, raisins and spiced oak. The palate is full and velvety, with caramel, cocoa, red berries, figs and dates. The finish is long, with dried fruit, chocolate and spice.
