Amrut Portonova is an unpeated Indian single malt bottled at a natural cask strength of 62.1% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from Portonova, a town on the east coast of India in Tamil Nadu, which was under Portuguese control between the 16th and 18th centuries.
The whisky was matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon casks, then moved to once-used port pipes imported from Portugal, and finally returned to ex-bourbon casks.
The nose offers fruity sweetness, caramel and burnt apple pie. The palate is spicy and fruity, with caramel and an oaky saltiness, and the finish is long and fruity with hints of berries.
