Amrut – Rye Malt (70cl, 50%)

This is an Indian rye whisky from Amrut, made entirely from malted rye. That sets it apart from many rye whiskies, which also use unmalted rye. The rye comes from Europe, while distilling and maturation take place in India. It is matured in new, charred American oak casks, chosen to balance the strong spice of the rye. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose combines berries and ripe orange with lavender, light spice and vanilla cream. On the palate come fruit and honeysuckle, a little sharp kumquat, then a velvety, creamy texture with jammy fruit. The finish leaves gentle spice and a mouth-watering impression.
