This is a 30-year-old Islay single malt from an undisclosed distillery, bottled by Elixir Distillers in its Single Malts of Scotland series. It is bottled at 47.5% in a 70cl bottle, without added colour and without chill-filtering.
The whisky comes from the 1990 and 1991 vintages. Two refill American oak barrels were married with a refill sherry butt.
The nose combines old Islay peat, medicinal smoke and coastal air with red fruit, banana, mango and caramel. The palate is dense and oily, with earthy smoke, dried mango, mint, papaya and a sweet fruit note. The finish is long, spicy and smoky, with toasted oak, medicinal notes and gentle caramel sweetness.
