Angel's Envy Cask Strength Port Wine Barrel Finish 2018 (75cl, 62.3%)

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Angel's Envy Distillery in Louisville, finished in ruby port wine barrels from Portugal and bottled at natural barrel proof with no dilution. It is the 2018 cask strength release. The port barrel finish was the idea of Lincoln Henderson, who founded the distillery with his son Wes, and it adds dried fruit, dark chocolate and sweetness to the bourbon. The whiskey has a deep amber colour with a ruby tint from the wine barrels. The nose offers dark cherry, dried plum, caramel and vanilla. The palate is rich and concentrated, with dried fruit, dark chocolate and warm bourbon sweetness. The finish is long and warming.
