Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt without an age statement, bottled at a cask strength of 57.1% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is named after the Corryvreckan whirlpool in the strait between Jura and Scarba, and sits in the distillery's Ultimate Range. It is not chill filtered.
The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels and virgin French oak casks.
The nose combines creosote, tarry rope and sea spray with blackcurrants, dark cherries, menthol and green herbs. The palate is oily and chewy, with white pepper, chilli oil, dark-roasted espresso, waxy dark chocolate, salty brine, hickory and baking spices.
