Ardbeg Y2K 23 Year Old is an Islay single malt in a 700ml bottle at 46% ABV, bottled without chill filtration.
The spirit was distilled on an Ardbeg still that had served for 51 years before it was retired in 2001. The whisky matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is typically described as herbal sweetness and light, perfumed smoke over lemon balm, with linseed oil, candied walnuts and honeyed heather. The palate is sweet and fizzy at first, then vanilla, peppermint cream, ashy peat smoke, aniseed and toffee. The finish is very long, sooty and tarry, fading to bitter orange and drying oak.
