Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 47.4% ABV without chill-filtration and sold in a 70cl bottle. It is a deliberately young Ardbeg that keeps its fiery peat smoke.
The whisky was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon oak brings vanilla and toasted coconut, while the Oloroso adds dried fruit and a savoury backbone.
The nose is pungent, with pine resin, black pepper, wet tar and sea spray. The palate is assertive, with soot, smoked bacon, creosote, dark cocoa and anise. The finish is long and savoury, with salted caramel, charred oak and raw peat smoke.
