A 12 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie in Dufftown, bottled at 43% ABV. It spent 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in virgin American oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky. The casks are pre-toasted there, then toasted a second time by the distillery's own coopers in Dufftown.
The nose has malty sweetness and fudge, then citrus and vanilla, with ginger and cinnamon underneath. On the palate, candied orange and lemon peel with vanilla toffee and butterscotch deepen into blossom honey, before oak spice arrives. The finish is rich and malty, with gentle oak vanilla.
