A 16 year old Balvenie single malt, bottled at 47.6% in a 70cl bottle. It matured first in American oak casks and was then finished in French oak casks that previously held red Pineau.
The finishing method was developed in 1982 by malt master David C. Stewart MBE. It adds a fuller range of aromas around the honey notes associated with the distillery.
The nose is light and floral, with lotus and geranium blossom, fresh meadow grass and fine apple zest. The palate brings lemon zest and grapefruit, then gentle sweetness of glazed fruit and a little ginger spice. The finish is fresh and clear.
