Balvenie – 19 Years Edge of Burnhead Wood (70cl, 48.7%)

A 19 year old Balvenie single malt, bottled at 48.7% in a 70cl bottle, and part of the Balvenie Stories series. It is made from local materials: barley from Dufftown, water from the Robbie Dhu spring, and heather from Burnhead Wood, which fuels the drying of the malt and gives the bottling its name. The nose offers dried fruit with nutmeg and honey on toast, with toasted malt and a little citrus blossom. On the palate come dates and raisins, soft oak, heather honey and shortbread. The finish is floral, with heather blossom and vanilla, ending on candied ginger.
