Balvenie – 21 Years Port Wood (70cl, 40%)

Balvenie 21 Years Port Wood is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It spends its first 21 years in traditional oak casks. It then moves into 30 year old casks that previously held vintage port. Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart tastes it regularly to check that the port wood adds to the whisky without overpowering its original character. The whisky has existed since 1996. The nose is fruity, with ripe raisin and a nutty dryness. The palate is creamy and silky, with fruit, honey and spice. The finish is long, soft and nutty.
