This is a 25-year-old single malt from The Balvenie, from the Rare Marriages series. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE brought individual casks together for it. It was distilled in 1996 and bottled on 29 July 2021 at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
It matured in European and American oak casks and shows the house character of vanilla oak, crystallised ginger and sweet, runny honey.
The nose is honeyed, with soft oak and candied orange peel. The palate has dark chocolate, plum, marzipan and caramelised pear, and the finish is soft and warming, with gentle spice and lingering sweetness.
