A 27-year-old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 48% in a 750ml bottle. The whisky spent its first 20 years in American oak before moving into ex-Caroni rum casks from Trinidad for a further seven years, a long second maturation rather than a brief finish.
On the nose it shows muscovado sugar and manuka honey, with green banana and gentle spice. The palate is smooth and vanilla-rich, deepening into treacle toffee, aged leather and oak. The finish is long and sweet, with an oily texture, toffee, oak and a trace of molasses.
