The Revelation of Cask and Character is a 19 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the fifth release in The Balvenie Stories Collection.
The whisky spent all 19 years in European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry, with no secondary finishing. It is also the first whisky released under Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, who succeeded David Stewart MBE.
The nose offers ripe berries, spiced blackcurrant chutney, orange peel, raisins, manuka honey and lavender. The palate is honeyed, with dark chocolate, Christmas cake spices, dried figs and ginger. The finish is long, with vanilla, creamy malt, a hint of peat smoke and a dry, spiced warmth.
