Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon (40%)

Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight is a bourbon bottled at 40%. Booker Noe created it in 1992 as part of the Small Batch Collection, aiming to bring a more subtle side of bourbon to the glass. The style takes its inspiration from Meredith Basil Hayden Sr., a rye producer from Maryland who moved to Kentucky and began distilling in 1792. He used a higher proportion of rye in his bourbon, and Booker Noe set out to make a similar high-rye mash with the same refined, approachable taste. The whisky is aged to be spicy yet sweet, both rich and sugary.
