Big Peat 12 Year Old is a blended malt from the independent bottler Douglas Laing, part of its Remarkable Regional Malts range. It is a vatting of single malts from the Scottish island of Islay, and it comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The blend draws on Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. Caol Ila brings sweetness, Bowmore balance, Ardbeg a medicinal, earthy side and Port Ellen elegance.
The nose offers charred oak, chimney smoke and campfire ash, with a phenolic quality running through it.
