Big Peat Fèis Ìle 2024 is the Thropaigeach Edition of Douglas Laing's Islay blended malt, a limited release for the island's festival. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
The usual Islay malt recipe, drawing on Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen, has been finished in Caribbean rum casks.
The nose is peated barley and smoke, then warming spice and toasted marshmallows. The palate is oily and thick, with flambéed banana, barbecued meat and honeyed malt. Coal dust lingers on the finish, with charred pineapple and allspice sweetness.
