Big Peat is an Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made in small batches from Islay malt whiskies only, among them Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. It is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose opens fresh, salty and clean, then moves to sweet malt dried over peat. On the palate there are ashes, sweet tar, beaches and smoking chimneys. The finish is long, with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes and a phenolic edge.
